You should always rinse and completely dry your hydration tank after every use. You can use a small amount of dishwashing detergent if required, especially if using electrolyte drinks or drinks containing sugar.
If your hydration tank needs a more comprehensive clean use a dish or bottle brush to scrub the inside then give it a good rinse. Fill the tank with water and add a spoonful of baking powder or baking soda. Next, seal the top, shake it around, run some water out through the bite valve so the drinking tube is filled with water and leave to soak for 15 mins to one hour. This will also help get rid of any residual taste or odour.
Your hydration tank should be completely dry before storing. After cleaning or rinsing, hang it with the opening facing down and hold the top open with a clothes peg. Let the bite valve hang down and squeeze it with your fingers so any water remaining in the hose drains out.
